W języku angielskim czasowniki regularne czasu teraźniejszego nie zmieniają swojej formy. W czasie przeszłym przybierają formę z końcówką
-ed lub
-d (jeśli bezokolicznik kończy się literą
e). W czasach ciągłych dodajemy do czasownika końcówkę
–ing.
Czasowniki nieregularne tworzą osobną grupę wyrazów, którą należy zapamiętać.
