To be honest I do not watch television very often because I prefer listening to the radio or reading some interesting books. But if I watch it, I always try to choose the most interesting programmes. To keep myself informed about what is going on around me I must watch news programmes. That is why I watch Wiadomosci and Panorama. To get to know new things about the European Union, I like following Euroexpress. It is a very interesting programme thanks to which one can improve one's knowledge about this organization. It presents principal directives of the politics of the EU countries and informs us about the stages of the negotiations between the European Union and Poland.

As far as documentaries are concerned I like watching Widzialam made by Maria Wiernikowska or Czas na dokument. The first one is a series of commentaries which present disasters or wars. One of the best known commentaries of this journalist was the 1997 programme live from the flooded areas in Poland.. Maria Wiernikowska presents events in a highly professional way. The other one - that is to say - Czas na dokument depicts different aspects of the life of Polish society. I remember a programme entitled Arizona which portrayed the sad life of villagers who used to drown their sorrows drinking a kind of wine called Arizona. This sad reality was perfectly portrayed in this documentary.

At times I like watching Katastrofy na zywo which presents a lot of dangerous situations and rescue actions.

In my opinion the most interesting programmes are those about public affairs such as Monitor or Nocne rozmowy. Monitor is sort of programme which shows interviews with politicians. As regards Nocne rozmowy, it takes up discussions on various highly controversial topics. Besides, everyone can take part in these debates because viewers are invited to call up and present their opinions. Among the most interesting topics were aggression, transgenic products, privacy, and euthanasia to mention just a few of them.

In conclusion I would like to say that thanks to television one can watch really interesting programmes that build up our knowledge about the world today; they shape our opinions and make the time spent on watching TV a real pleasure.
