System edukacyjny w Polsce - The Educational System in Poland
Generally, children begin school at the age of six. After one year spent in nursery, school they move to primary school, where they stay until the age of thirteen. Next, they go to junior high school to stay there until the age of fifteen. After that, they follow their education in grammar, technical or vocational schools. When they pass the school leaving exam, they can go to university for five years. After three years of studying they receive a Bachelor's Degree and two years later they are able to get a Master's Degree. The most prestigious universities in Poland are the University of Warsaw and the Jagiellonian University.
As far as education in Poland is concerned, it is often criticised because of the insufficient system of teaching. Polish children learn a lot of theory, but they are not taught how to put what they have learnt into practice. However, a new educational system is supposed to change it even if teachers are not suitably qualified to face the task which is a real challenge for both them and pupils.
