Rodzice są w dzisiejszych czasach zbyt pobłażliwi - Parents are too permissive today

The general opinion is that today parents allow their children too much freedom. Young people do what they please. They neglect their duties, come back late, play truant, smoke, drink alcohol, use drugs or have trouble with the law. In short, they have not been brought up properly.

One reason why parents are too permissive with their children is that they themselves were brought up in a strict way and do not approve of doing the same to their children. Others are simply busy earning a living and do not have enough time to devote to their children. It is important to remember: the effect that being permissive has on the child depends largely on his or her personality. Not all children of permissive parents cause problems. Many children feel better in a free and relaxed atmosphere. They know that they can trust their parents and in turn can be trusted, while others take the advantage of being allowed too much.

Naturally all children should be let to decide for themselves to a certain degree so that later on they can make their own decisions in their adult life easily. What is more, parents should let them make mistakes. They should, however, teach them how not to make the same mistakes twice. The university of life seems to give far better results than strict control over a child.

To conclude, some children require a greater amount of control and guidance than others. And it is up to the parents to decide if being too permissive is good or harmful to their child.
