There are a lot of actors and actresses whom I like but there is one whom I really admire, and it is the French actress Sophie Marceau. She was born in Paris in 1966. When she was 14 she acted her first role in the film entitled La Boum (A party) directed by Claude Pinoteau, which won her, a Cezar Prize - the most prestigious prize of French cinema. Everyone said then that she was a new Brigitte Bardot. She also starred in such films as L'etudiante (A student), Descente aux enfers (Descent to hells) and lately in Anna Karenina. My favourite films are La Boum and L'etudiante. I think these are the her greatest achievements. The first one made her famous all over the world. She is regarded to as an actress with a face of whimsical child. She acted in some American films like Braveheart with Mel Gibson, Firelight and Lost and found. These roles brought her full acceptance of the audience.

Sophie Marceau is a very interesting person. She is a follower of Buddhism. In her autobiography La Manteuse (The liar) she wrote: 'Buddhism has given me the sense of direction in life. Sometime I was surrounded by emptiness, now I can find joy in everything that is connected with ancient Indian path of enlightenment.' Marceau is a very sensitive and gifted actress. Her films show that she prepares very carefully to her roles. I like this way of acting and I generally like French cinema. She and Catherine Deneuve are the most talented and famous French actresses. She lives in Paris but also in Warsaw. She is married to a Polish director Andrzej Zulawski, and they have a son, Vincent. She has recently appeared in the film La fidelite directed by her husband. She is also known for writing stories for children.
I admire Sophie Marceau and appreciate her for her diverse approach in acting. Speaking about her, we can say that she is a child of the contemporary cinema.
